As most of you that read our blog know, Dan and I found out that we are having a baby BOY!!! We couldn't be happier and planning for our son is fully underway. The nursery is currently under construction....pictures to come later. I cannot stop buying cute baby boy clothes. And the UPS man has been here so many times that he finally asked Dan yesterday if someone was having a birthday. Opps. Dan and I have been reading up a lot on how to take care of the baby and how to prepare. Poor Zoey has become our guinea pig lately and she is getting trial rides in the bob stroller and is the perfect size to practice our swaddling technique.

Testing the Old Wives Tales
Our big ultrasound is tomorrow and on top of finding out that baby Johnson is doing ok we'll also hopefully find out the gender. So in preparation of our appointment tomorrow we thought it would be fun to see what the old wives tales have to say.
Direction of the Ring - BOY
Many people believe in the good old ring test as a way to tell what the sex of their baby is going to be. In this test you hang your wedding ring from a string over your belly. If the ring swings back and forth your baby is a girl. If it swings around in a circle then it is a boy.
Fast Heart Rate Tale - GIRL
Some people believe that if your baby has a fast heart rate, above 140 beats per minute, then that means you are having a girl, and that if your baby’s heart rate is below 140 beats per minute then you are having a boy.
Cravings - BOY
Some people say that if you crave salty food while pregnant it means you are having a boy and if you crave sweet food while you are pregnant it means you are having a girl.
Morning Sickness - GIRL
If you had a smooth pregnancy with no morning sickness, it’s a boy. If you were sick or felt really nauseous during your pregnancy, count on a girl.
Chinese Gender Chart - BOY
The Chinese Gender Chart claims to have an accuracy rate of over 90%. It is based on how old the mother is at conception and the month that she conceived.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the ultrasound shows tomorrow!

Bump Watch 2010
Ok... so we've neglected our blog for a while... but it was for good reason - swear! Lorie and I have been cooking a new addition to the family and we are now 16 weeks along. Based on past experiences, we felt it was best to wait to tell everyone until after all our tests and scans were complete. We are happy to report that (knock on wood) everything looks great!
Introducing baby Johnson!
Over the past few weeks, I have witnessed Lorie's new routine, which includes turning 16 shades of green by 3pm, a feverish call home every afternoon at 5 with the craving of the day, a quick hello and meal together, and finally pass out on the couch by 7pm. (It was comical and scary at the same time) At long last, the sickness has passed and she has started to get her energy back - which resembles the wife I remember.
Our next major milestone is March 31st where we will find out if we are going to paint the baby's room pink or blue. We will keep you all posted. Thanks to everyone for the love and support you have already shown.

Lorie's Survival Training Camp 2009
I survived! Dan, Zoey and I braved it on a 2 day / 28 mile canoe and camping trip down the Delaware River. I can hardly call this roughing it as we had an air mattress, a cooler full of beer and lots of yummy food….thanks to my wonderful husband who knows I’m a girl that likes comfort. My only complaint is the bugs, bathroom trips in the woods, and the HUGE snake I saw while on said bathroom trip in the woods. We had a wonderful time and gorgeous weather! If you are saying to yourself...."wow, 28 miles is far".....well it is! The last 6 miles seemed like we were paddling uphill. We definitely got a workout, but we can hardly complain. We got to enjoy the scenery, beautiful bald eagles, fishing and snuggling in a tent.
Happy 2nd Anniversary!
How do I begin to tell you how lucky I am
to have you in my life?
I'll start by saying what an honor it is
for me to be your wife.
You're my best friend in the good times
and my rock in times of sorrow.
You're my best friend in the good times
and my rock in times of sorrow.
You're the reason for sweet yesterdays
and my promise for tomorrow.
and my promise for tomorrow.
I never thought I could feel this loved
until I became your wife.
You made this year and every year
the best one of my life.
Happy Anniversary babe!
Love,
Lorie
